Herpes zoster is a skin disease caused by infection with the varicella-zoster virus and is characterized by unilateral erythematous patches on the skin over which clusters of blisters are visible and accompanied by significant pain. The rash of herpes zoster crusts over and itches, suggesting that the condition has significantly improved. Anti-itch medications such as levocetirizine hydrochloride tablets or loratadine tablets can be applied appropriately, and acyclovir cream and penciclovir cream can be applied appropriately for external use.
