Transendoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is an endoscopic technique of injecting contrast agent through the duodenal papilla and thus retrograde display of the pancreaticobiliary duct. After more than 30 years of continuous development, it has become an indispensable technique for the diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. All cases of common bile duct stones, purulent cholangitis, malignant biliary obstruction, and pseudopancreatic cysts that used to require surgical treatment can now be treated by endoscopy with satisfactory results. Because of its low risk, low trauma and short hospital stay compared to surgery, it has been generally accepted by clinicians and patients, especially for some elderly patients. Our general surgery ERCP group has carried out this technology since the 1990s, after a long period of clinical practice and accumulation, not only has its unique insights in this field, but also has a set of operating norms and experience summarized from the first line of clinical practice. Patients come from all over the country, the youngest of whom is 14 months old and the oldest is 103 years old, and the number of ERCP patients has reached more than 4,000 cases, which are always difficult and high-risk cases of biliary and pancreatic diseases. Our hospital is equipped with all kinds of instruments, the ERCP operation room is spacious and beautiful, and the combined indexes have reached the leading level in China. In addition to having many experienced specialists in endoscopic surgery and internal medicine, we also participate in the construction of ERCP group of Shanghai Medical Association and have published nearly three dozen professional articles in many influential journals in China. ERCP in our hospital has become a specialty integrating clinical, teaching and scientific research, as well as a teaching base for training and training professional ERCP specialists.
