Tumor patients need not only chemotherapy but also talk therapy

Although with the progress of medical science, new drugs have been developed and new treatment methods have been invented, tumor patients no longer have the old three sets: surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but have more means such as endocrine therapy, targeted therapy, interventional therapy and biological immunotherapy, chemotherapy is still a widely used means and has been used until now. Even with more adjuvant chemotherapy drugs, chemotherapy will have many side effects, which will affect tumor patients physically and mentally. Of course, if combined with TCM, most of these side effects can be controlled within a certain range. The author would like to put forward a point here: tumor patients not only need chemotherapy, but also need talk therapy. We know that tumor patients often have a fear of chemotherapy, how to help them overcome this fear so that they can receive appropriate chemotherapy and still cooperate with the corresponding treatment when some side effects occur, in order to facilitate the smooth treatment? This requires us to treat them with talk therapy. By talking therapy, we mean to educate them and provide them with some guidance according to their corresponding psychological quality, so that they can understand chemotherapy correctly. This is the surface level. But in fact, there is a deeper meaning of talk therapy, that is, tumor patients are often more introverted, or have experienced stronger and longer mood swings and stimulation, and these bad emotions will become the catalyst for tumor development. After the tumor is formed, it will also become a “stumbling block” for treatment. Therefore, we need to talk to them and have in-depth communication and conversation with them to cheer them up and cooperate with doctors. In other words, this actually reflects the change of the modern medical model. It has become a “bio-psycho-social” model, and such a model requires doctors (whether Western or Chinese) to see not only the “disease” but also the “disease” in the person. “is in the body of the person, to see the “patient”! This is also consistent with the author’s article “What is the characteristic of Chinese medicine in treating tumors? This is also consistent with some of the points in the article “What are the characteristics of Chinese medicine in treating tumors? This also requires that we doctors should not only use medicine to cure the disease, but also talk to the heart of the doctor. In clinical practice, the author often spends a lot of time on communication with such patients to encourage their fighting spirit and improve their confidence so as to ensure the smooth treatment.
