Introduction to episiotomy

Perineal incision is mainly required during labor if the perineum is tight or mild edema has occurred, or if the second stage of labor is relatively long and the fetus is in intrauterine distress and the labor needs to be finished as soon as possible, then perineal incision is required. The main method is to open the perineum first, and then cut the perineum at an angle of 45-60 degrees downward in the posterior vaginal union, the length is about 4-5cm, after the incision, the bleeding is stopped by gauze compression. If there is active bleeding, ligature hemostasis is required. After the delivery of the fetus, the incision is sutured, and the vulva must be kept clean to avoid infection, and most of the stitches are removed five days after the operation.
