The main reason for not being able to urinate after surgery is that the gauze dressing is too tight. The dressing and the elastic bandage fixed outside should be relaxed appropriately to reduce the pressure on the urethra, and normal urination can generally be restored. Some patients are unable to urinate after surgery, not simply because the gauze dressing is too tight, but because they are afraid to urinate due to pain. In addition, there are some patients who cannot urinate because of their position, mostly in children. For this case, we should use analgesic drugs appropriately and let the patient come to the bathroom to listen to the sound of water to induce urination, which can usually solve the problem of not being able to urinate.
