How to know if the amniotic fluid is high or low

To know whether the amount of amniotic fluid is high or low, you can judge it by the amniotic fluid index. Generally during normal pregnancy, the amount of amniotic fluid will gradually increase with the weeks of pregnancy, and most of the amniotic fluid at 38 weeks of pregnancy is around 1000 ml, and at full term, it is about 800 ml. If the amount of amniotic fluid exceeds 2,000 ml in pregnancy, it means that there is too much amniotic fluid, and if the amount of amniotic fluid is less than 300 ml at the time of full-term pregnancy, it is too little amniotic fluid. Testing is done through the amniotic fluid index, which has a normal value of 50 to 250mm, and a general result of more than 80mm indicates too much amniotic fluid, while less than 20mm indicates too little amniotic fluid. Meanwhile, excessive amniotic fluid may be caused by fetal malformation, multiple pregnancies, placental cord pathology, and the presence of various diseases in the pregnant woman and the fetus, while too little amniotic fluid is caused by expired pregnancies, restricted intrauterine fetal development, and fetal malformations. It is recommended that pregnant women closely monitor the amount of amniotic fluid, and if abnormalities occur, they should consult a doctor in a timely manner and actively cooperate with the doctor to carry out targeted treatment.
