The best time for mammography

Mammograms should be performed between periods, ideally 7-10 days after the menstrual period. Mammography is an extremely important screening test for breast disease, and can usually be used to differentiate between breast hyperplasia and breast cancer, and can better identify benign breast lesions from malignant ones. The hormonal instability in women’s bodies at different times of the menstrual cycle causes changes in the glandular tissue of the breast at different times of the menstrual cycle, so the results vary and can lead to errors in mammography. It is recommended that the examination be performed 7-10 days after the end of the menstrual period, when breast enlargement is least affected. Before the mammogram, patients can eat and drink without hindering the examination. However, patients should not apply any foundation, skin care products, or topical solutions to the chest before the examination and wear loose clothing to facilitate the examination.
