Small apical cysts can be observed regularly after root canal treatment; large apical cysts require surgical curettage.
1. Most of the apical cysts are due to the transformation of apical granuloma, which occurs when inflammation and secretion in the pulp cavity and root canal irritate the root tip for a long time.
2. For teeth that can be retained, small apical cysts can be treated with direct root canal therapy, followed by regular review and comparison every 6 months; large apical cysts, especially those that cause expansion of the jawbone, require surgical curettage. For some teeth that cannot be retained, such as obvious loosening, residual roots and crowns, etc., the affected teeth can be directly extracted and then scraped.
Apical cysts mainly lies in early detection and early treatment, generally a better prognosis, it is recommended that regular oral examination.
