How long does it take for a patella fracture to heal as normal

Patellar fracture is a more common injury in the clinic, according to the severity of the fracture, with or without accumulated joint surface, choose different treatment methods, and directly affect the prognosis recovery, as follows. If the patella fracture is only a transverse fracture, there is no obvious separation of the fracture end and the joint surface is flat, external fixation in a plaster cast can be adopted, and the general duration of plaster fixation is 6-8 weeks. If the fracture is comminuted, and the fracture end has obvious separation and accumulated joint surface, this situation often needs to be treated surgically, with incision and internal fixation, after surgery, the lower limb joint functional activities can be carried out in bed, to restore the joint range of motion, generally about 8-12 weeks after surgery, the fracture end can reach healing, and can be normal to get out of bed and walk with weight. The patella fracture should be walked slowly according to the normal gait, support the handrail or let others support in the early stage, and then gradually resume normal walking.
