How soon can I bend my back after a steel nail in my lumbar spine?

Spine surgery is often treated with internal fixation, which is commonly referred to as steel stapling. There are several options for nailing, and the impact on the patient depends on several aspects. Usually, fixation of 1-2 segments does not have a major impact on the patient’s activities. The bending time after lumbar nailing varies, and it is best to practice bending after 3 months. Lumbar spine nailing surgery is divided into three categories, the first is a herniated disc, intervertebral fusion after removal of the disc, for short segmental fixation; the second is trauma, fracture nailing fixed; the third is for degenerative scoliosis to do long segmental fixation. Therefore, for trauma caused by fracture, patients can generally bend after 1 month; for short segment fixation caused by slipped disc surgery, patients are advised to bend after 3 months; long segment fixation is more difficult for patients to bend, such as from the thoracic spine until the sacral spine position, it is difficult to bend, then bending is not advocated. Patients can be trained to use hip and knee flexion instead of usual life, such as bending down to pick up things can squat down to pick up.
