Is advanced small cell lung cancer painful?

Generally, patients with advanced stage of small cell carcinoma of lung are more painful, and they may have some related symptoms such as obvious cough, chest tightness, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, etc., which are also accompanied by severe pain.
Small cell carcinoma of lung in advanced stage will have corresponding symptoms due to the failure of multiple organs. Symptoms of late stage cancer are mainly related to the location of tumor, and common ones include obstructive pneumonia, symptoms of dyspnea and chest pain.
Swelling of the limbs may also occur if the tumor obstructs the lymphatic vessels. Patients in advanced stages may also develop extensive metastases throughout the body, such as intracranial metastases and liver metastases, due to metastatic lesions causing cardiopulmonary dysfunction, liver dysfunction and increased intracranial pressure in patients. Even with appropriate clinical treatment, the therapeutic effect is generally poor. Most patients will endanger their lives within one year.
Advanced small cell lung cancer can be improved by palliative treatment to improve patients’ quality of life, and family members can accompany more, communicate with patients more and distract patients’ attention to relieve their pain.
