How to treat colonoscopic polyps

When doing colonoscopy, if polyps are found, first of all, the nature of the polyps should be distinguished, colon polyps are generally divided into two categories: adenomatous polyps and hyperplastic polyps. Adenomatous polyps have the tendency to become cancerous, while hyperplastic polyps generally do not have the possibility of becoming cancerous and should be judged at the time of treatment. If the polyps are small, they can be removed under the microscope with biopsy forceps and then sent to pathological examination; if the polyps are >5mm, they can be cauterized with electrocoagulation or argon knife as appropriate, and some of them can be removed with radiofrequency trap; if they are lateral developmental polyps, they should be treated with mucosal dissection, and if they are large and difficult to handle under the microscope, they should be referred to surgery for surgical treatment.
