Functions of Wen Bile Tang

Warm Bile Soup is effective in regulating qi and resolving phlegm (regulating the body’s qi to resolve phlegm), harmonizing the stomach and inducing bile secretion (regulating stomach qi and promoting bile secretion). It is used in the treatment of bile-stomach disharmony and internal disturbance of phlegm-heat. Warm Bile Tang is composed of Semixia, Bamboo Root, Citrus Aurantium, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Praeparatae and Poria. It is used in treating bile-stomach disharmony and internal disturbance of phlegm-heat, manifesting as timid and easy to be frightened (fearfulness in the heart, afraid to meet people, easily frightened), restlessness caused by deficiency heat, insomnia and dreaming, vomiting and eructation (hiccups), vertigo, epilepsy, etc., with greasy and yellowish moss, and slippery veins. This formula is often used in treating insomnia, palpitation, vomiting, vertigo and epilepsy caused by biliary depression and phlegm disturbance (internal disturbance of phlegm, malfunctioning of biliary evacuation and excretion). The adverse effects and contraindications of this formula are not clear. If medication is needed, it is recommended to use it under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, as unauthorized use of medication may result in adverse consequences.
