Adapalene gel and retinoid cream are not usually used together. Adapalene Gel is an anti-acne medication. It is used in the dermatologic treatment of common acne characterized by pimples and papules, as well as in the treatment of acne on the chest and back. The most common adverse reactions to this product in the initial stages are erythema, dryness, scaling, itching, and burning. It should be contraindicated in people who are allergic to the product. Retinoids with similar effects, such as retinoic acid cream, should not be used concurrently. Retinoic acid cream is a keratolytic agent. It is used as an adjunctive treatment for acne vulgaris, flat warts, keratosis pilaris and psoriasis. Topical application of this product may cause symptoms of skin irritation such as burning sensation, erythema and flaking. It is contraindicated in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, lactation, hypersensitivity to the product and in the eye. Sharing with Adapalene Gel may aggravate adverse skin reactions, so using the two together is not recommended.
