What is pppd and how is it caused?

PPPD is a functional vestibular disorder that refers to persistent postural perceptual dizziness, which may be related to vestibular dysfunction and the patient’s personality. PPPD is a functional vestibular disorder mediated by behavioral factors, with psychological involvement and consequences, and is most common in women between the ages of 45 and 55 years, with onset of persistent dizziness, which may last longer than 3 months, and sometimes accompanied by vestibular migraine. According to current research, the occurrence of this disorder may be related to vestibular psychiatric disorders, which may be an anxiety-like condition secondary to an acute vestibular event. Additionally, patients who are themselves introverted or neurotic are susceptible to developing this disorder after experiencing an acute vestibular disorder. Since this disorder is a new independent disease with an unclear pathogenesis, once the patient experiences abnormalities, such as persistent dizziness, then it is important to go to the hospital for examination and actively cooperate with the doctor’s treatment.
