Persistently elevated intraocular pressure of 23 mmHg and a little bit of eye swelling may be caused by transient elevated intraocular pressure, which does not require treatment. However, if it is caused by glaucoma, patients can reduce the intraocular pressure through medication, surgery and other ways to relieve eye discomfort.
1. Transient elevation of intraocular pressure: If patients use their eyes for a long time or stay up too late, it will easily lead to eye fatigue, and transient elevation of intraocular pressure may occur, which may be as high as 23mmHg, and the discomfort of a little bit swollen eyes may also occur. Generally do not need special treatment, patients can be relieved after rest.
2. Glaucoma: the patient’s intraocular pressure rises to 23mmHg, or even continue to rise, eye swelling, nausea, vomiting and other discomfort symptoms, the patient can follow the doctor’s instructions to use medication, such as hairy fruit rutaecarpine eye drops, travoprost, and other eye drops to treat, reduce intraocular pressure, alleviate the discomfort of the eye. If the effect of medication is not good, patients can have surgery, such as trabeculectomy.
It is recommended that patients with elevated intraocular pressure consult a doctor to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions.
