What to do about radiological otitis externa

Clinical non-radioactive otitis externa, which often refers to chronic diffuse otitis externa caused by radiation therapy, can be dealt with through general treatment, medication and surgery.
1. General treatment: clean the external auditory canal and ensure that the outer ear is clean and dry. If the eardrum is not perforated, the ear canal can be flushed with 3% hydrogen peroxide diluted with water and heated to body temperature.
2. Drug treatment: Ciprofloxacin solution, clotrimazole, hydrocortisone cream and other drugs are often used for anti-inflammatory and anti-infection treatment.
3. Surgery: Surgery is generally not necessary for this disease, but for necrotizing otitis externa (a special kind of diffuse otitis externa) which is not effective in conservative treatment, surgery can be taken to remove the lesions or radical surgery for treatment.
When symptoms related to otitis externa occur, you should consult a doctor in time to clarify the condition, and follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the use of medication and treatment.
