Cardiac insufficiency is a broad concept, accompanied by clinical symptoms of cardiac insufficiency is called heart failure, and its treatment includes general treatment, drug therapy and non-pharmacological treatment.
1. General treatment: Firstly, we should carry out targeted treatment for the diseases that cause cardiac insufficiency. Secondly, it is necessary to improve the lifestyle and reduce the damage to the heart caused by risk factors such as tobacco, alcohol and high blood pressure. Finally, drugs that can damage the heart, such as indomethacin, should be avoided or stopped.
2. Pharmacological treatment: Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors/angiotensin receptor enkephalinase inhibitors, β-blockers, aldosterone receptor antagonists, and sodium-glucose cotransporter protein 2 inhibitors can be used to treat heart failure and to improve the patient’s cardiac function.
3. Non-pharmacological treatment: Commonly used methods include cardiac resynchronization therapy and implantation of cardioverter-defibrillator, etc. The above methods are suitable for patients with moderate to severe heart failure. Heart transplantation is the ultimate treatment, but it is not widely used in clinical practice.
Cardiac insufficiency is a form of heart failure that can be treated by both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic means, and patients suffering from cardiac insufficiency need to seek medical attention in a timely manner in order to avoid delaying their condition.
