Does tuberculosis affect fertility?

Tuberculosis can affect fertility. If you become pregnant during the course of anti-tuberculosis treatment, the anti-tuberculosis drugs can affect the fetus and cause fetal malformations, so pregnancy is generally not recommended. If tuberculosis is discovered during pregnancy, the pregnancy will need to be terminated. If TB is left untreated, it will continue to progress and lead to severe TB, again affecting both the pregnant woman and the fetus itself. If TB is treated, the drugs can also have an effect on the fetus. Therefore, in either case, termination of pregnancy is recommended; TB can affect fertility.
