What does it mean to have advanced stomach cancer?

Advanced stage of gastric cancer means that the disease has developed to the point of inoperable, and the disease has developed to the point of metastasis to other organs or lymph node metastasis. Clinically, patients with gastric cancer are usually staged according to TNM staging. Stage I usually refers to no lymph node metastasis, no other organ metastasis, and is usually the early stage of gastric cancer. Patients who have developed distant metastasis or 1~2 or 3~6 regional lymph nodes metastasis usually have developed to the advanced stage of gastric cancer, which is mostly referred to as stage III or IV. And tumors with distant metastasis usually metastasize to different parts of the body such as lungs, liver, supraclavicular lymph nodes, etc. Such patients are usually hard to be cured, so it is suggested that patients should go to hospital for consultation in time and choose appropriate treatment plan under doctors’ guidance.
