GERD surgery includes procedures such as fundoplication or gastric fixation.
Smoking, alcohol consumption, and increased abdominal pressure may cause the lower esophageal sphincter to relax, and when stomach contents reflux into the esophagus, it may lead to GERD, with symptoms such as retrosternal pain, burning sensation in the epigastrium, and belching.
There is no specific medication for GERD. Gastric fundoplication can be performed for anti-reflux; for patients with hiatal hernia, gastric immobilization can also be performed to attach and fix the stomach to the diaphragm for anti-reflux.
If you have GERD, it is recommended that you go to the hospital to have a gastroscopy, Helicobacter pylori breath test, and other tests before deciding on treatment under the guidance of your doctor. It is also important to eat smaller meals, less fried and barbecued food, elevate the pillow appropriately, and avoid lying down immediately after meals.
