Patients with cataract and glaucoma at the same time can have surgical treatment. According to the different types of closed-angle glaucoma and open-angle glaucoma, appropriate surgical programs can be selected. 1. Closed angle glaucoma: Patients with closed angle glaucoma combined with cataract can undergo surgery at the same time. After cataract removal surgery, the patient’s atrial angle stenosis will be lifted, so cataract surgery can also treat closed angle glaucoma. In a small number of patients, the trabecular function may have been lost due to long-term closure, and trabeculectomy is required. The two surgeries can usually be performed at the same time. 2. Open-angle glaucoma: For open-angle glaucoma combined with cataract, it is controversial whether the two surgeries for glaucoma and cataract can be done together, and depending on the patient’s condition, the latter can be done together and the latter can be done separately. It is recommended that patients with cataract combined with glaucoma should consult a doctor in time to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for appropriate treatment.
