Orlistat capsules are not recommended for cholecystitis. Orlistat is a gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor that inhibits the absorption of triglycerides, thereby reducing caloric intake, controlling body weight, and further reducing the range of health problems associated with obesity. It is indicated for the long-term treatment of obese or overweight individuals. Orlistat is contraindicated in children under 18 years of age, pregnant and lactating women, patients with chronic malabsorption syndrome, cholestasis and organic obesity, organ transplantation, etc.; it is used with caution in allergies, kidney stones, and those who are not overweight; it should be used with caution in special populations such as patients with bile duct obstruction and abnormal liver function tests. Cholecystitis is mostly caused by bacterial infection and cholestasis, with or without abnormal liver function. Therefore, cholecystitis patients should use orlistat capsule with caution and consult a doctor before using the drug.
