What are the signs and symptoms of severe asthma?

In severe asthma, blood gas analysis shows type II respiratory failure, which means that there will be carbon dioxide retention and sometimes acidosis, which means that there will be a decrease in PH. Severe asthma will also show the following signs: 1. impaired consciousness, and in severe asthma even impaired consciousness, which means that the condition is very critical; 2. cyanosis of the mouth and lips; 3. telangiectatic breathing and profuse sweating; 4. odd pulse; 5. Peak flow rate monitoring suggests less than 50% of the baseline value. If the above manifestations suggest severe asthma, immediate resuscitation is needed. The following resuscitation measures can be taken: inhalation of short-acting bronchodilators, such as salbutamol, compound ipratropium bromide. Intravenous glucocorticoids, such as intravenous methylprednisolone, should be administered. Give intravenous application of bronchodilators, such as aminophylline, magnesium sulfate, and sometimes terbutaline. Intravenous application of terbutaline, often when the patient cannot tolerate nebulized inhalation, can be applied intravenously.
