Patients with rheumatic diseases should be aware of HPV infection

In recent years, the number of patients with rheumatic diseases has been increasing, and female patients in particular account for the majority. Patients with rheumatic diseases have immune dysfunction themselves, which, together with the application of immunosuppressive drugs, makes them highly susceptible to viral infections, especially HPV virus. Female patients infected with HPV virus are prone to cervical disease and even cancer in severe cases. Therefore, female patients should pay attention to the rational application of immune preparations to avoid HPV infection during the medication process. Patients with long-term application of immune preparations should be screened for HPV. The rate of HPV infection is significantly higher in patients with rheumatic diseases than in the normal population, and patients who undergo early intervention will significantly reduce the chance of cervical disease.
