Early speech is not closely related to intelligence and needs to be considered in context. Babies who speak early may only have better language skills than other babies of the same age, which does not necessarily mean that they are developing intellectually. Consultation with relevant professionals is recommended. Every baby is different. Some babies develop language early, but other aspects such as motor skills are slower to develop. If both parents are non-verbal, the baby may be affected by genetic factors and his/her language development will be relatively late. Environmental factors may also affect how early or late a baby can speak. If the parents communicate and interact with the child on a regular basis, the baby may be able to speak earlier. On the contrary, if the baby has been just playing by himself, without external communication, then the baby may talk later.
