Is a high CA724 serious?

CA724 generally refers to Glycosylated Chain Antigen 724. This test alone cannot determine whether it is serious or not, and further examination is needed to confirm the diagnosis to make it clear. If it is caused by gastric cancer and other malignant tumors, it is more serious; if it is caused by gastric ulcer and other diseases, it is relatively less serious. CA724 has good sensitivity to gastric cancer, and gastric cancer is not excluded when it is elevated. Gastric cancer belongs to a kind of malignant tumor, which can endanger patient’s life and reduce life expectancy. Patients with early treatment have a better prognosis, but patients who progress to advanced stages have a poor prognosis and it is a more serious disease. Mildly elevated CA724 may also be gastric ulcer. Gastric ulcer is a disease that can be cured and eradicated, and most of them have a better prognosis, but some patients with gastric ulcer will die due to complications such as hemorrhage and acute perforation. So it is usually relatively non-serious through active treatment. Therefore, high CA724 is recommended to carry out further examination targeting the digestive system and reproductive system, and if necessary, can be combined with liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen and kidney ultrasound, abdominal CT, gastroscopy and intestinal examination to make a comprehensive judgment.
