Can a grade 1 glioma progress to grade 2

Glioma grade I is somewhat likely to progress to grade II.
Gliomas are classified into grades one to four, with grade one considered benign and grades two to four progressively more malignant. Surgical resection is the first choice for glioma treatment, and further treatment options, such as radiotherapy, are decided after surgery based on the pathological results and the extent of glioma resection during surgery.
The prognosis of grade 1 glioma is relatively good if it can be completely resected intraoperatively and assisted with radiotherapy treatment after surgery, but regular follow-up is also required. In some patients, grade 1 glioma may not be completely removed during surgery, and the glioma may recur with the prolongation of time after surgery, and may even be transformed into grade 2 or higher grade glioma, but the probability of this happening is relatively low.
After the glioma has been surgically determined to be grade 1, its subsequent treatment and follow-up is quite important, and it is recommended to go to neurosurgery and oncology outpatient clinics of regular hospitals in order to avoid or delay the recurrence of grade 1 glioma and its grade change after surgery.
