PVP-I is an abbreviation of the English name of vinylpyrrolidone iodine, commonly known in Chinese as polyvidone iodine or povidone iodine, a commonly used disinfectant in surgery, where PVP stands for polyvinylpyrrolidone and I for iodine. Although PVP-I has good killing effect on bacteria, fungi, viruses and other pathogenic microorganisms, it is a broad-spectrum, highly efficient, low-toxicity, safe disinfectant, PVP-I has little irritation, in addition to the disinfection of chest, abdomen and limbs surgical parts of the skin, it can be used for the perineum and the oral mucous membrane parts of the disinfection, but not for the disinfection of eye parts. It should be noted that before use, patients should be asked whether there is a history of iodine allergy, and patients with iodine allergy are absolutely contraindicated to use PVP-I disinfectant. Therefore, when using PVP-I disinfection, firstly, ask whether there is a history of iodine allergy, and secondly, avoid the PVP-I disinfectant coming into contact with the eyes. The use of this disinfectant should be done under medical supervision.
