Spinal cord injury numbness is good or bad

Numbness in patients with spinal cord injury is usually not a good sign, because a mild spinal cord injury usually manifests as pain in the innervation area. If there is numbness in the innervated area, most of them indicate a more severe spinal cord injury, where sensory conduction is mostly limited and the prognosis is relatively poor. When local numbness occurs after a spinal cord injury, the extent of the injury should be determined promptly, usually by MRI and EMG, combined with clinical examination to confirm the final result. If surgery is possible, it should be performed as early as possible to release the nerve compression and repair the nerve injury to promote the relief of numbness, and if necessary, hematopoietic stem cells can also be used for treatment.
