Ultrasound manifestations of chocolate cysts

Endometriosis can occur anywhere in the body, between the muscle wall is called adenomyosis, and in the ovaries can form chocolate cysts. The sonographic manifestations of endometriosis are diverse, and typical coeliacs include a variety of manifestations, as follows: 1. uniform punctate hypoechogenicity within the cyst; 2. sometimes moderate echogenicity or reticular echogenicity is seen within the cyst as a manifestation of bleeding; 3. the cyst wall is thicker and thicker separation is seen within it; 4. about 1/3-1/2 patients present with bilateral occurrence and the cysts are located in both ovaries; 5. chocolate cysts are adherent to the surrounding tissues and are mainly fixed to the posterior aspect of the uterus; 6. Color Doppler ultrasound shows that a little blood flow signal is visible in the cyst wall.
