How long does it take for lobar pneumonia to heal?

It is impossible to generalize how long it takes to cure lobar pneumonia, as it can take 1-2 weeks for mild cases and 2-3 weeks or even months for severe cases. The time to cure lobar pneumonia depends on the type of pathogenic bacteria infecting the pneumonia, the severity of the infection, the immune status and the nutritional status. For clinical cure of lobar pneumonia, treatment needs to be determined by the extent of invasion of the lesion. For lighter patients, active and effective treatment by selecting sensitive and effective antibiotics can lead to cure in 1-2 weeks; for patients with more severe disease and weaker constitution, it may take about 3 weeks to cure. If the patient has a poor immune status, combined drug-resistant bacterial infections, combined tumors, and complications such as pleural effusion and lung abscess, the treatment time may be extended accordingly and may even take several months to completely cure. In addition, patients with lobar pneumonia should also strengthen their diet, avoid spicy and irritating diets, and follow their doctor’s advice on the appropriate treatment modality.
