The Chinese herb Artichoke is effective in dispersing blood stasis, removing toxins, eliminating carbuncles and cooling blood to stop bleeding (cooling and moistening the blood to prevent bleeding), and is mainly used in the treatment of vomiting blood, urinating blood, and having blood in the stools caused by blood-heat hemorrhage.
Artichoke is the above-ground part of the artichoke plant, family Asteraceae, whose effect is to disperse blood stasis, remove toxins, eliminate carbuncles and cool the blood to stop bleeding, mainly used for the treatment of blood in urine, blood in stool, epistaxis, vomiting blood and leakage of menstruation (excessive menstruation or dripping) and other blood-heat hemorrhagic conditions, but also used for bleeding from wounds, carbuncles, swellings, sores and poisons, etc. It can be taken internally as well as for other purposes.
Artichoke can be used both internally and externally, decocted for internal use and pounded for external use. Adverse reactions are not clear, and it is contraindicated for people with spleen and stomach deficiency (spleen and stomach weakness and cold) without stagnation.
