Genital Herpes Symptoms

Genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus infection of urogenital and perianal skin and mucous membranes, and can be categorized into primary genital herpes, recurrent genital herpes, atypical or unrecognized genital herpes, subclinical infections, and special types of genital herpes, each with different symptoms. 1. Primary genital herpes: it is the first infection with the herpes simplex virus and the symptoms appear, mainly manifested as clusters or scattered distribution of small blisters, and then broken to form vesicles, scabs and self-healing, which may be accompanied by pain, itching and burning sensation. Some patients may be accompanied by inguinal lymph node swelling and pain, fever and so on. 2. Recurrent genital herpes: mostly appearing 1~4 months after the primary infection, it can be manifested as local itching, burning sensation, pins and needles, numbness and perineal pain. 3. Atypical or unrecognized genital herpes: atypical lesions may be manifested as erythema, tiny fissures, folliculitis, skin abrasions, etc. in the genital area. 4. Subclinical infection: It is herpes simplex virus infection without clinical signs and symptoms, but there is contagiousness. 5. Special types of genital herpes: such as herpes cervicitis can be manifested as mucopurulent cervicitis, the patient will appear pus or bloody vaginal discharge; herpes simplex virus infection in newborns, which can be manifested as fever, lethargy, weakness in breastfeeding and sucking.
