Cerebral palsy can be seen at a few months

Most children with cerebral palsy are not recognized until about 3 to 6 months after birth, as this is the period when delays in motor development are observed. Cerebral palsy Cerebral palsy is a syndrome of non-progressive brain damage that occurs in infants from before birth to 1 month after birth due to a variety of causes. It is mainly characterized by movement disorders and postural abnormalities, and may be accompanied by mental retardation and epilepsy. Some of them are caused by ischemia, hypoxia, heredity, and birth injury, and some of them are of unknown etiology. Early symptoms of cerebral palsy mainly include movement disorders (e.g. hyperextension of lower limbs), difficulty in sleeping, developmental delay (e.g. inability to hold head up after 4 months, inability to sit at 7-8 months, inability to crawl after 8 months), and postural abnormalities (e.g. scissor-like shape when legs are hanging in the air, and drop of the toes of the feet). Currently, there is no effective cure for cerebral palsy, which is mainly treated by rehabilitation, medication and surgery. Early intervention, comprehensive treatment and long-term persistence are needed. Parents are advised to bring their children to the doctor in time for a clear diagnosis and early treatment and intervention under the doctor’s guidance, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
