What is a nodule in the lung?



Lung nodules can be caused by many diseases, such as tuberculosis, pseudotumor pneumoniae, metastatic lung nodules, pneumonia, lung tumors and autoimmune diseases.

1. Tuberculosis: Generally, after infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, if the treatment is not timely or the absorption at the lung lesion is incomplete after the treatment, it will cause the occurrence of lung nodules;

2. Pneumatoid pseudotumor: mainly after the further development of chronic inflammatory hyperplasia in the lungs, it will lead to fibrous encapsulation around the lesion, which can be found in the imaging examination of pulmonary nodule manifestation;

3. metastatic lung nodules: mainly considering lung cancer with nodules in the lungs caused by intrapulmonary metastasis or gastrointestinal metastasis.

4. Pneumonia: nodules may be formed in local foci after lung infection, and such nodules will shrink or disappear after anti-infection treatment.

5. Lung tumors: such as lung cancer with nodules in early stage, these nodules need to be taken seriously and diagnosed as soon as possible.

6. Autoimmune diseases: such as systemic lupus erythematosus or rheumatoid arthritis can also cause lung nodules.

Lung nodules can be caused by many diseases, which need to be evaluated by the physician with personal medical history, accompanying symptoms and treatment, and pathologic biopsy is needed if the diagnosis is clear.
