The reason why syphilis cannot turn negative for life is that even after the patient is cured of syphilis, since the syphilis-specific antibodies produced in the body will not disappear, the test result can still be positive when conducting laboratory tests, but this does not mean that the patient has not been cured.
Syphilis serologic examination is generally divided into two categories, one for the non-syphilis spirochete-specific test, such as PRP, etc., for patients with early syphilis, the titer will slowly decrease after treatment, and after about six months will become negative.
The other is a syphilis spirochete-specific test, such as TPHA, TPPA, etc. This is used to detect syphilis-specific antibodies in the blood. Since this antibody does not decrease after cure, the test can still be positive and may remain positive for life.
For patients with abnormal syphilis serology test, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals for timely examination and follow up with treatment under the guidance of professional doctors.
