Dampness in traditional Chinese medicine is mostly caused by external dampness and water-dampness (water-dampness stays in the body).
Exogenous dampness is mostly caused by humidity, rain and water, fog and dew, and other external dampness. Dampness is a yin evil, which has the pathogenic characteristics of blocking qi, damaging yang qi, sticky and lingering, and heavy and turbid tendency to the lower part of the body.
Dampness heavy clinical head heavy as wrapped, limbs heavy (limb weakness, sinking), lethargy and drowsiness, or accompanied by cold (fear of cold) fever, or limb joints, muscle aches and pains, or local leakage of moisture, or skin eczema, itching, etc. as the main manifestations.
The reason for the internal stoppage of water-dampness can be the attack of external evils, and can also be the internal deficiency of positive qi. Such as the wind evil attack, so that the lung qi XuanDiaoShi failure; dampness evil internal invasion, hindering the spleen’s function of transportation and transformation; room labor injury to the kidneys, or disease for a long time, resulting in the spleen and kidney yang qi deficiency, the inability to gasification of the water. Clinical mostly swollen limbs, urination (urine is not smooth), or abdominal distension, tongue pale fat as the main performance.
There are other conditions that may exist with heavy dampness in Chinese medicine. If treatment is needed, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital as early as possible to clarify the cause of the disease and to treat it under the guidance of a doctor. Self-diagnosis is not advisable to avoid delaying the condition.
