White stuff in the cavity after a tooth extraction may be connective and epithelial tissue from the normal healing of the extraction socket, or it may be food debris. A blood clot forms in the extraction socket about 30 minutes after the tooth is extracted, and after 24 hours the clot begins to mechanize and form granulation tissue. On day 3-4, the granulation tissue in the extraction socket further becomes connective tissue and the surface wound forms a mucosal epithelium. This is the normal healing process of the extraction socket. This may be manifested as a white substance in the cavity after tooth extraction. White stuff in the cavity after tooth extraction may also be food debris, but usually can be removed by rinsing the mouth, do not worry too much. There may be other causes of white stuff in the cavity after tooth extraction.
