Swelling and pain in the lower eyelid is generally due to the following common causes: a. wheals of the eyelid, which is a more common infectious lesion of the eyelid. Smaller sized wheals can be promoted by topical application of gold ointment to promote the self-reduction and absorption of the wheals. If the wheals are larger and the pain is progressively worse, it is recommended that the patient undergo surgical excision to reduce the swelling and pain of the lower eyelid. Allergic reactions are mostly seen in allergic patients. When exposed to dust, pollen and other allergens, it will cause allergic allergic reaction in the body, which will manifest as swelling and discomfort of the lower eyelid. Patients can reduce the swelling of the lower eyelids by staying away from allergens, taking loratadine orally, injecting promethazine intramuscularly and other anti-allergic drugs.
