Sleeping is not recommended if the baby has a fish spike. If the baby develops laryngeal edema during sleep, it can lead to sleep apnea, respiratory failure and even shock in severe cases, such as asphyxia. Therefore, once it is determined that your baby has a fish spike, you must immediately go to the hospital and remove the spike with a fixed tool using professional instruments and equipment, such as electronic visual laryngoscope or fiberoptic bronchoscope. After removal, the baby is advised to eat a light diet for 3 days and not to eat stimulating and spicy foods. In addition, anti-inflammatory drugs can be taken to relieve the local irritation of the stuck fish spike and to reduce the inflammatory response and exudative edema.
