Hallucinations are one of the manifestations of hallucinations in perceptual disorders, and are most common in psychiatric clinics. Patients with schizophrenia, organic mental disorders, and alcoholic toxic disorders can have this symptom. Currently, Western medicine is mainly used to eliminate the symptoms in the process of treating psychiatric disorders, and there is no single treatment method for hallucinations. The onset of phantom hearing is a common clinical symptom in psychiatry, especially in patients with schizophrenia. The onset of phantom hearing can be followed by thought and behavior disorders, such as delusional content and impulsive behavior. Some patients with schizophrenia often have residual hallucinations during the recovery period, which can last for several years and are a major risk for relapse. Therefore, the elimination of hallucinations has always been a clinical priority for psychiatry. In addition, Western medicine has not seen any effective treatment to eliminate this symptom, so the clinical effect is not significant. In recent years, we have a combination of Chinese and Western medicine (especially acupuncture treatment), and has achieved a certain degree of effectiveness. Chinese medicine believes that phantom hearing is closely related to the function of the internal organs. In the chapter of “The internal organs of evil qi”, it is stated that “the twelve meridians, whose other qi goes to the ear, are the hearing”, among which the hearing is most closely related to liver, gallbladder, kidney and spleen. Therefore, the treatment of phantom hearing is based on a combination of holistic diagnosis and local treatment, and has achieved satisfactory results with electro-acupuncture. We believe that electro-acupuncture can improve the therapeutic effect, mainly because the acupuncture points are near the ear, in the treatment of deep acupuncture heavy technique, and with the uninterrupted current stimulation, so that the ear muscles contract rhythmically, causing the ear blood vessel diastole, accelerate the blood circulation in the ear, improve the results of local acupuncture treatment. It can be widely used in psychiatric clinics because it is more effective when combined with the identification of acupuncture points.
