How to Treat Hypodiastolic Function

The treatment of hypodiastolic heart function is based on the cause of the disease, through the improvement of living habits, dietary structure and taking medication. 1. Non-disease causes The diastolic function of the heart represents the heart’s ability to pump blood back into the body. Simple diastolic dysfunction has no obvious clinical symptoms. With age, overweight can cause diastolic dysfunction, which requires weight loss, proper exercise and good lifestyle habits to slow down the rate of decline. 2. Disease-related causes Hypertension, coronary heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, restrictive cardiomyopathy, metabolic diseases (diabetes mellitus, etc.) can cause cardiac diastolic dysfunction. In this case, Ca ion antagonists such as amlodipine can be given to lower blood pressure, statins, nitrates such as atorvastatin, isosorbide 5-mononitrate to control the progression of coronary artery disease. β-blockers such as metoprolol can be given to prevent/delay ventricular remodeling and reduce cardiac load to treat cardiomyopathy. Glucose-lowering drugs/insulin such as metformin and acarbose to treat diabetes. Symptoms such as significant chest tightness, fatigue and dizziness should be sought and treated under the supervision of a physician.
