What is the pain in the right ear?

Patients who experience pain in the right ear often suffer from inflammation of the external ear canal or acute inflammation of the middle ear. Patients may dig their ears with excessive force or repeated water ingress in the ear, which may lead to acute otitis externa, resulting in congestion and swelling of the skin of the external ear canal. Some patients may also develop boils in the external ear canal, infected cysts in the external ear canal, or even limited pus cysts, which can cause severe ear pain. Also, patients may develop acute otitis media secondary to a cold or upper respiratory tract infection, resulting in acute congestion of the eardrum and even acute purulent infection of the middle ear, resulting in perforation of the eardrum and pus flowing from the ear.
