Noteworthy issues in hypertension medication

There are six major classes of anti-hypertensive treatment drugs in common use, including: diuretics, beta-blockers, calcium channel antagonists, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI)), angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARB) and alpha-blockers. Other anti-hypertensive drugs such as compound antihypertensive tablets, Zhenju antihypertensive tablets and Beijing antihypertensive 0 are still widely used in China. The following points should be noted in clinical use: ①Advocate the use of long-acting drugs once or twice a day to ensure smooth blood pressure lowering for 24 hours and reduce blood pressure volatility. ②For moderate to severe hypertension (systolic blood pressure >159mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure >99mmHg), combination therapy with two or more drugs with different antihypertensive mechanisms is often required. ③The type and combination of drugs should not be changed frequently in a short period of time. It may take several weeks to 1 to 2 months to figure out a reasonable treatment plan. ④If blood pressure is frequently below 110/70 mmHg, slow dose reduction, such as halving of a particular antihypertensive drug, may be considered, and if blood pressure rebounds, the original dose should be resumed and continued. ⑤Taking ≥3 anti-hypertensive drugs at the same time, blood pressure is still above the target level (≥140/90mmHg), or at least 4 anti-hypertensive drugs are needed to make blood pressure <140/90mmHg is persistent hypertension, it is recommended to be hospitalized for a comprehensive examination to exclude other causes of hypertension. (6) Antihypertensive treatment varies from person to person, do not blindly follow the experience of other patients, as it may not apply to you. (7) Try to find the same doctor for long-term follow-up. Different doctors will have different ideas about diagnosis and treatment and will have different levels of understanding of your condition. Establishing a good doctor-patient relationship will not only improve the effectiveness of your treatment, but will also save a lot of valuable time.
