What to do if the drip gets into the air

There is no need to be overly nervous about a drip entering air; a small amount of air entering a blood vessel will not cause significant consequences. Although there is information that someone once died because of 400mL of air injection, the usual studies suggest that the lethal dose is 100mL of air for a woman of about 50kg, while it is considered relatively safe for a woman of 50kg weight to have 10mL of air entering the bloodstream, which will dissolve in the blood and be expelled in the pulmonary circulation. In case of air entry by drip, the patient should be instructed to lie on the left side and take pure oxygen. If the patient develops symptoms such as dizziness, symptomatic treatment is needed and appropriate drugs to improve circulation can be used according to the situation and observed until the symptoms disappear.
