Myopic patients have changes in the fundus of the eye, which refers to the complications related to the fundus of the eye caused by myopia, such as the appearance of atrophic spots, dry fissures, areas of retinal degeneration, and macular splitting.
In patients with myopia, because of the lengthening of the eye axis, it will cause the retina to stretch along with the expansion of the eye wall, and then it will be easy to cause the retina to degenerate, which will lead to the formation of changes in the fundus.
For dry fissures in the peripheral part of the retina and areas of degeneration, they need to be closed by doing fundus laser treatment to avoid their further progression.
For atrophic spots which are usually stable, close observation is sufficient and no treatment is needed.
For macular splitting, treatment by vitrectomy or posterior scleral bibbing can be considered.
Currently myopic patients with changes in the fundus should go to the ophthalmology department of the hospital for examination in time, and take reasonable treatment after clear diagnosis by the doctor.
