Does cancer recurrence mean advanced stage?

Most of the recurring cancers are advanced, but they are local recurrence without distant metastasis, in which case they are not necessarily advanced, but may also be intermediate or late, and there is still hope for treatment. For example, if local recurrence occurs after surgery for papillary thyroid cancer, it can be considered as radical surgery or treatment with nuclear iodine 131, and there is hope for another surgery or cure after comprehensive treatment. Cancer recurrence also depends on the specific cancer, the presence of metastasis and the follow-up treatment, some of which have better treatment effect. If cancer recurrence cannot be treated by surgery, most of them can choose anti-tumor treatment such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and can also be combined with targeted drug treatment, which may have better effect on prolonging survival.
