What’s with the stomach rumbling after a meal?

Stomach gurgling after meals may be caused by physiological factors such as eating ice cream, or it may be caused by pathological factors such as pyloric obstruction and intestinal tuberculosis. 1. Physiological factors: (1) Food factors: eating cold and stimulating, spicy and greasy food, such as spicy hot, coffee, strong tea, ice cold soda, alcohol and other foods, increase the burden on the stomach and intestines, stimulate the gastrointestinal mucosa, cause abdominal distension, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, intestinal hyperacoustic and other symptoms. (2) Eating too fast: it can cause the collision of food together with air and liquid in the stomach, which produces the sound of gas over water and the sound of gurgling. 2. Pathologic factors: (1) Pyloric obstruction: it is the phenomenon that the contents of the stomach cannot pass normally due to the narrowing of the pylorus caused by ulcers in the duodenum, stomach, pyloric duct, prepyloric region or neoplastic diseases in the above mentioned parts. Vomiting, abdominal pain, abdominal distension and gurgling after meals may occur. (2) Intestinal tuberculosis: It can cause intestinal obstruction, which prevents the intestinal contents from passing through the intestinal lumen normally, resulting in symptoms such as hyperactive bowel sounds, abdominal pain and loss of appetite. Stomach gurgling after meals may also be caused by acute gastroenteritis and other diseases, it is recommended to seek medical attention to clarify the diagnosis, under the guidance of the doctor for targeted treatment.
