What is the normal value of fasting blood sugar in children

Children with fasting blood glucose of 5.6~6.9mmol/L is impaired fasting blood glucose, so the normal value of fasting blood glucose in children should usually be less than 5.6mmol/L.
Fasting blood glucose is one of the most important indicators for the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, which is the blood glucose value measured before breakfast after fasting for at least 8~10 hours. In general, the normal range of blood glucose for children is less than 5.6 mmol/L.
Diabetes mellitus should be considered if a child has typical symptoms of diabetes mellitus and has a blood glucose level ≥11.1 mmol/L at any time after a meal; a fasting blood glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L; and a 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test blood glucose level ≥11.1 mmol/L.
It is recommended that children with abnormal fasting blood glucose values should go to a regular hospital in a timely manner, according to the doctor’s guidance to see if further glucose tolerance test is needed, and then carry out appropriate treatment after a clear diagnosis.
